How this works: This tool scans for technical fingerprints — hidden Unicode characters, HTML attributes, and formatting markers that AI chat interfaces inject into copied text. It does not analyze writing style or use machine learning. A low score means no technical markers were found, but the text could still be AI-generated and manually cleaned. A high score means definitive technical evidence of AI tool origin.

How Gemini AI Detection Works

Google Gemini (formerly Google Bard) generates responses through its web interface at gemini.google.com. Like other AI chat interfaces, Gemini's rendering system processes and formats text before displaying it to users. During this rendering process, invisible Unicode characters can be embedded in the text data.

When you copy text from Gemini's interface, these hidden characters travel with the copied content. They include zero-width spaces, non-breaking spaces, direction markers, and other invisible Unicode characters that Gemini's text rendering pipeline injects for layout management, line-break control, and rich-text formatting.

Our detector scans the pasted text across 10 marker categories, identifying invisible characters and formatting patterns that indicate AI tool origin. While Gemini doesn't have proprietary HTML attributes like ChatGPT does, the pattern of Unicode characters in Gemini-copied text is distinct from human-typed text and detectable by our scanning engine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about detecting Google Gemini text

Can you detect text written by Google Gemini?
Yes. When text is copied from Google Gemini's web interface (gemini.google.com), the clipboard often contains invisible Unicode characters — zero-width spaces, non-breaking spaces, and direction markers. Our detector scans for these technical fingerprints to identify Gemini-generated text.
Does this work with the old Google Bard?
Yes. Google Bard was rebranded to Gemini, but the web interface technology is essentially the same. Text copied from either Bard or Gemini's interface carries similar invisible markers that our detector identifies.
How is Gemini's fingerprint different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT injects unique HTML data attributes (data-start, data-end) that Gemini doesn't use. However, Gemini's interface adds its own set of invisible Unicode characters during copy operations. Both leave detectable traces, but the specific marker patterns differ. Our detector scans for markers from all AI tools.
Does this detect Gemini in Google Docs or Gmail?
Gemini's integration into Google Workspace products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets) may leave different traces than the standalone Gemini chat interface. Our detector works best with text copied directly from gemini.google.com. Workspace integrations may add fewer invisible markers since the text goes through Google's document editing pipeline.
